DEATH BY HAGGISBy NM author Jay Cutts. Available at: https://www.createspace.com/4115240 or on Amazon. An Amazon Breakthrough Novel Quarterfinalist, Death by Haggis is a tongue in cheek detective novel inspired by the Bulwer-Lytton Fiction Contest for the "opening sentence to the worst of all possible novels." Until the day Jane Hamchester walked into his squalid office, the highlight of Detective Sam Barlow's life had been a particularly good tuna sandwich. Now he is charged with trying to save the life of the only woman he ever, uhm, thought was really swell. His only problem is that there are no clues, other than the nonsensical utterances of a dying man. Barlow's desperate search takes him first to Scotland and then to the Aegean. But time is running out. Not only for Jane but for the human race. Barlow's only possible hope lies at the bottom of an ancient cavern, a remnant from the time when a different kind of human populated the Earth, a kind of human that could have saved mankind. Alas, they are long extinct. Or are they? Free preview at: http://www.cuttsreviews.com/books/ [email reply]
GIGANTIC FOOT OF DOOMBy NM author Jay Cutts: Annie Gomez and the Gigantic Foot of Doom. This YA sci-fi/fantasy adventure portrays the "teen condition" with more than a bit of humor, a la Terry Pratchett's Tiffany Aching. It features Annie Gomez and her "coterie" of fellow outcasts. Annie Gomez, having just completed 10th grade, wrestles with being the smartest person she knows (and probably the smartest person ever) and yet having to deal with absurd parents, thick classmates, and saving the world from aliens (or possibly fairies.) Will she prevail at the last minute? Where has Aaron been this whole time? What happens when you fall in love with someone from a parallel dimension? And what can stop that gigantic foot descending from the sky to destroy the Earth? Available at: https://www.createspace.com/5258056 or on Amazon. FREE PERFORMANCE/READINGThis Thursday, Jan. 14. Bookworks, on Rio Grande, north of Griegos, next to Flying Star. Starts at 7 pm. I'm the author of Death by Haggis and Annie Gomez & the Gigantic Foot of Doom. I'll be doing a presentation this Thursday at 7 pm at Bookworks, on Rio Grande north of Griegos, next to Flying Star. It's free and hopefully will be entertaining. I'm going to do some readings/presentations from my two novels. There might be mood music. There might be props. There might be drama and humor. There might be pathos. Or it might just be pathetic. Come and find out! It would be fun to have some friends in the audience and I'll do my best to make sure it's entertaining. Think of it as a sort of Rocky Horror event, only less rocky and less horrible. Feel free to bring props or costumes related to detective novels, fairies, space aliens, teenagers or other fictional creatures.
