This one takes a minute to wrap your head around. A dark crime drama from Belgium, Bullhead concerns itself with the little-known underground world of illegal growth hormone smuggling in the cattle industry. Sounds mighty academic, but writer-director Michael R. Roskam has created a grim, testosterone-fuelled thriller. The frightening Matthias Schoenaerts stars as the troubled protagonist, a HGH-jacked rancher who busts heads for his domineering criminal family. Bleak stuff, but shattering. 124 minutes R.
