Hit & Run

The still-trying-really hard Dax Shepard (Idiocracy, Employee of the Month, Let's Go to Prison, The Comebacks) writes, co-directs and stars in this action comedy throwback. In it, he plays Charlie Bronson, a reformed getaway car driver who jeopardizes his witness protection program by racing his girlfriend (Kristen Bell) to Los Angeles for a job interview in a hopped-up muscle car with cops, gangsters and assorted others on hot pursuit. Shepard calls in a lot of show biz favors, wrangling Bradley Cooper, Tom Arnold, Michael Rosenbaum, Kristin Chenoweth, Beau Bridges and David Koechner for this Smokey and the Bandit-inspired car chase. 100 minutes R.
