Killer Joe

William Friedkin (The Exorcist) directs and Matthew McConaughey stars in this awesomely sleazy, Texas-fried crime film. Emile Hirsch (Speed Racer) plays a young man with a sizable debt who makes the poor decision of hiring a hit man to bump off his evil mom for the insurance money. McConaughey is our hit man, a moonlighting Dallas cop with a nasty sadistic streak. This is lurid black humor not afraid to go completely over the top. Certain audience members will be highly offended. But McConaughey is clearly having a ball wallowing in the white trash. 102 minutes NC-17.
