The kids love Tilly and the Wall—especially fourth graders.

Noise musicians are the vampires of the music world. Cloaked in black, they like to stay up all night sucking. (Face!) No, but seriously, 20-odd noise acts will shun the light of day in a 12-hour nighttime showcase this Friday, Sept. 26. The Sicksicksick Overnight Festival is from 8 p.m. to 8 a.m. at STOVE (114 Morningside NE) and costs just $7, which includes breakfast. That part I’m not kidding about. (LM)

RTX JJ Got Live RATX · Lindsey Buckingham Gift of Screws · The Ringers Headlocks & Highkicks
Oh, to have long hair. Jennifer Herrema’s got it and you can just picture the RTX frontwoman and rock sorceress whipping it around and around until her brain cells turn to pudding. RTX’s third album has hair-metal galore, and when the band’s not thrashing about, it’s in the midst of a talk-box-heavy space-out. Then Herrema’s voice rises to a scream and another chaotic rant ensues. Not a live album, but intentionally under-produced, JJ Got Live RATX is tight-pants-wearing rock that keeps it real and very loud. (SM)

“Round and round like a horse on a carousel, we go, / Will I catch up to love? I could never tell, I know, / Chasing after you is like a fairytale, but I, / Feel like I'm glued on tight to this carousel” Just like this cry baby, once you hear Melanie Martinez's sweet voice and haunting lyrics you'll be glued to your spot…
