Cast away

A feature film called The Loop has just begun shooting in Santa Fe. The film is described as a drama/romance and has something to do with a young highway department worker whose parents were killed, who meets a sexy librarian and gets involved in a mystery concerning an ancient parrot. Huh. It’s based on a book by Joe Coomer and stars the green-skinned chick from Star Trek and some hunky dude from “Drop Dead Diva.” The production is now seeking extras of all types. Pay is $10 an hour with an eight-hour guarantee, plus overtime. Food and beverages will be provided. Casting agents are particularly interested in folks from Santa Fe, as mileage and accommodations will not be provided (though all applicants are welcome). If you missed the open casting call, they will keep accepting applicants throughout the duration of the shoot. The film will be shot through December, so anytime between now and then is fine to send your info. Of course, the sooner, the better. If you’re interested, send a photo of yourself to: loopextras@gmail.com. Be sure to include in the body of your e-mail your contact and personal information: name, phone number, e-mail address and age range. For more info, log on to myspace.com/loopextras.

Calling All Crew

New Mexico-based ChiliWood Productions Ltd. will start pre-production on the pilot for its new series “The Blues Twins Go To Crystal Canyon.” If you or anyone you know wants to get in on the action, producers are looking for talent in all areas of filmmaking: acting, crew, accounting, locations, investors, etc. There will be a full script read-through sometime this fall, after which they will hold auditions for eight female roles and 11 male roles. A few of these will be prominently featured roles. If you’re interested in climbing on board, please contact ChiliWood for more information at thebluestwinscc@gmail.com.

Festive Time

This week the Guild Cinema in Nob Hill is hosting not one but two film festivals. The Third Annual Pornotopia Film Festival will take place Friday, Nov. 6, through Sunday, Nov. 8. This festival packs in the best of cutting-edge erotica. (Check out the interview with special guest Tristan Taormino in this week’s News section.) For a full line-up, ticket prices and all the dirty details, log on to selfservetoys.com. From Monday, Nov. 9, through Wednesday, Nov. 11, Guild will host WORD! Poets and Songwriters Movie Program. For a complete run-down of this literary-minded film fest’s schedule, visit guildcinema.com/movie/132.
