In this age of massive consolidation and corporatization in the publishing world, it's tiny localized publishers that have proven to be life blood of the traditional publishing industry. We here in New Mexico are blessed with a wide range of high-quality, small-scale publishers who do quite an extraordinary job of serving the needs of book lovers with a taste for local literary flavors. Page One Bookstore will host Small Press Week from Monday, June 7, through Sunday, June 13, providing an excellent opportunity to learn more about how creative mom 'n' pop publishers manage to stay afloat in a market dominated by monolithic East Coast-based mega publishers. Book lovers will not want to miss it. For details, call 294-2026.
