Brainchild of local band The Dirty Novels, the Blackbird has been appropriately rock ’n’ rolled with excellent music, black-clad waitresses and a cool look. There are an impressive number of draft and bottled beers, and a few nice wines by the glass, which are fan-freaking-tastic on the back patio. By the way, "buvette" (boo-vet) is a loose French translation for "refreshment bar." Now you’re really in the know. Technically speaking, a dive bar indicates an establishment of ill repute. Furthermore, while we're being technical, Burt's Tiki Lounge is a tiki bar. In any case, however rough around the edges it may be, we think Burt's is one of the city's finest places to wet one's whistle, and so do you. Plus, the bartenders make an excellent Mai Tai. In Albuquerque there are a handful of rocking places to rock, but when it comes to really rocking out to some sweet rocking rock, be it shredding, noodling, head banging or self-conscious toe-tapping, the Launchpad is where the magic happens. And Burqueños seem to think so every single year. Long live Launchpad! (Alibi Staff, December 23, 2010) Add a Review ![]() Marble BreweryMon-Fri: 3pm-midnight

A small menu of panini sandwiches keeps hunger at bay, but you’re here for the beer—several varieties (always with a few seasonals) are brewed fresh in big vats right onsite. Or pick up a growler, six-pack or keg to take home. In the relatively short time it's been open, Marble's taken over the town, and you'll find a variety or two at the respectable bars in town. White tile and recessed blue light create an island oasis that’s suggested rather than spelled out (no 8-foot murals here), and the service is friendly and attentive. The lentil soup is seasoned with just a whisper of aged balsamic vinegar, perfect with a toasty triangle of imported pita bread and a light Greek salad. Stop in for a snifter of ouzo and live jazz music on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Sun: 11:30am-8:45pm (subject to change) Yanni's Mediterranean Grill and Opa BarYou love Yanni's. So do we. As the only restaurant in Albuquerque with a diverse and refined Greek-influenced Mediterranean menu, who can top them? Their adjoined Opa Bar seats about 85 people and is open for lunch, dinner or just cocktails. Painted deep red, dimly lit and accented with lots of dark wood, the lounge provides a stark contrast to the bright, light and airy dining rooms at Yanni's. It’s an ideal place for pre- or post-movie cocktails and snacks, or more substantial cuisine. The dining room is walled with lustrous, ebony-adobe, and the tables are clothed in crisp, black and white linens. By the glass or bottle, there’s plenty of quality hooch. (Or, for an additional $10, the staff will happily pour a vintage from the adjoining liquor store.) The menu is classic steakhouse stuff, with beef tournedos in a silky demi-glace, fresh fish and a damn fine veal Oscar. A few years after being ousted from its nearly decade-long home in Nob Hill, O'Niell's Pub has migrated east up Central and reopened in a new (but reassuringly familiar) space. All the old standouts like fish and chips and the “Burger in Paradise” are still here and as good as they ever were. Tractor Brewing's O'Niell's Irish Red is a perfectly balanced beer drunk by itself or with everything from chicken wings to chocolate cake. They're comforting, a little cheeky and unapologetically Irish-American. Just like O'Niell's Pub. (Alibi Staff, August 11, 2010) Add a Review Albuquerque - Old TownQ BarMon-Thurs: 4-11pm
