A diverse array of drinkers stops by for a cold one every night at the Anodyne. No matter what social clique you belong to or what your beverage of choice is, the staff at the Anodyne makes sure you get it fast. It only takes a few visits before the bartenders know what you want before you even ask for it.
Best of Burque 2009 (Best Bar in Which to Lay Low):
This upstairs home-away-from-home noir bar is full of dark corners and pockets of mood lighting, perfect for remaining unseen. Slip in, drape your trench coat over the back of a barstool and ask the friendly, low-key bar staff for your usual. Sun: noon-midnight (subject to change) Carraro's Pizza and Italian Restaurant & Joe’s PlaceIn the front, it's a standard restaurant laid out with a small bar and big window facing the street. Travel a short way through a blacklit hall and enter the kind of divey neighborhood hangout this city needs more of, complete with TVs, a jukebox, a ping-pong table, air hockey and arcade games. Though the entire menu is available no matter where you choose to spend your time, you can't go wrong with the twisty-crust pizza. Caroline the bartender makes the meanest Lemondrops and non-blended Margaritas around. Suck back one of her Bloody Marys, too, which she makes extra spicy with Sriracha rooster sauce. (1/6/2011) Knuckleheads Bar & GrillThis sports bar on Coors just north of I-40, has got your UFC fix on TV along with some satisfying bar food options. The rack of basted barbecue ribs are juicy, tender and fatty. A mesquite chicken sandwich, served on a ciabatta bun, is tasty. And the oven-roasted turkey club with poblano pepper and grilled onions is a winner. (Alibi Staff, December 23, 2010) Add a Review |
