So sabroso ! This is one of those sweet mom ’n’ pop restaurants that is much beloved by neighbors but nearly unknown by folks in other parts of the city. Well, now you know. If you’re in the mood for real Mexican food like chicharron burritos, shredded chicken tacos or irresistibly good desebrada , then head on over to El Sabor.

I must have eaten at this restaurant 100 times when I lived around the corner. Best bets: carne desebrada, chile rellenos, and the absolutely terrific Burrito Supreme (carne adovada, eggs, beans, potatoes, cheese) which is best enjoyed with chile over. ESdJ's chile is interesting in that it is redder or greener, rather than red or green, which I guess is related to its border-town cuisine. Oh yeah, the salsa is awesome, and if you hit them at lunch the chips are usually fresh out of the deep fry. Yum.
