You’ll probably have to battle full parking lots and at least a moderate wait, but these delays, annoying as they may be, are one of the best “reviews” a restaurant could hope for. Inside, the dim lighting and rustic décor fade away when an enormous pile of tender, saucy meat appears before you. The low-heat sauce is tangy and sweet but mellow enough to go down nice and easy without a pucker. Friends of the sausage will love the hot links; well-spiced and smoky dogs with a delightful snap. A huge bar takes care of all your beer and cocktail needs. (Alibi Staff, August 11, 2010)

Nice atmosphere once your inside. The sauce is tomato based and tastes like the commercial brand "Chicken N Ribs" The sliced pork sandwich(not pulled) has a nice smoke flavor if you avoid the sauce. The Green Chili stew is loaded with cumin and did not really let the other ingredents shine through. It may just be my Southern background or that I do not understand western style BBQ but give me a pit smoked pulled pork sandwich and some homemade sauce anyday. If we ever get a HardRock Cafe here try thiers.

  • I've been going to Quarters for years -  [ Tue Sep 1 2009 3:31 PM ]

long enough that I've changed favorite sandwiches many times over. They have a good sweet-tangy barbecue sauce, so I initially got the barbecued pork or hot links sandwiches. I'll still get the ribs sandwich sometimes, which is basically a small order of ribs on a piece of bread you're not going to eat anyway. They pull that same trick with the shrimp sandwich, which is a nice handful of crispy fried shrimp on bread, wink, wink. They've got lots of great sandwiches besides barbecue, though. The reuben is fantastic, with layers of both corned beef and turkey, and the Jack's Special is another favorite of mine (roast beef, cheddar cheese, lettuce, tomato and mayo.) Crispy steak fries, dangerous margaritas and pretty reasonable prices, when you get down to it. Quarters is hard to beat.

I do not unnerstand why this place continues in business. I lived in Missouri 11 years, and comin and goin to kansas city or St Louis and even in the small in-between towns, their home made bbq, in comparison, the quarters quality sucks.

The citizenry of Kansas City would burn that place down if you even tried to pass the Quarters BBQ there.

It always amazes me when people say that they're wild about the food at the Quarters ...

Too bad they've never been out of albuquerque ...

  • I had a bad salad there recently.  [ Thu Mar 4 2010 9:27 AM ]

In fact, I don't think I've ever had a good salad there. Chopped chunks of iceberg lettuce, brown around the edges, and a bunch of croutons.
