Walking into Sadie's is like walking into your rich old New Mexican tia’s house. The food smells good, the atmosphere is comfortable, and it's OK if you get a little loud. Sadie's has a friendly and casual staff and huge, chile-smothered portions of food. We like to go for dinner with a big group and drink too many margaritas (except for the designated driver, of course). Voted Best Margarita for 2013. (Alibi Staff, August 11, 2010)

    Ekk....tasted like and looked like processed chicken...not that great...save your time and money

    I don't dig their salty, cheese-laden food. And those cubed potatoes instead of rice? Yuck. Almost every person in there seems to be about 50 pounds overweight. I wonder why.

    But (and this is a big "but") every margarita I've ever had there has been brutally potent. So the so-so food is a fairly small price to pay for the rad cocktails.

    Then I started not loving it so much... but last time I was there I discovered that I was just ordering wrong. I always ordered red chile and spicy ground beef. That's wrong, now I know.

    Get the green and stay away from the beef. I just get beans, now - I've never tried the chicken. The beans are great.

    Bean burrito or stuffed sopapilla with green is as good as El Patio - and I love El Patio, mean waitress and all.

    Also, I've tried canned chicken, like the whole chicken in a can. It was not that bad, really.

    Every time I have been to Sadies it has been glutton fest, I could split one plate with the family and there would be leftovers. Not my favorite restaurant, but not much compares to Taco Bell.

    we had a business luncheon back last year. the food was very heavy and terrible.

    too much cheese and too much fat!! I guess thats why its mexican.

    Sadies has some of the best green chile in town, and the salsa is a simple classic.

    There IS a reason this place is packed from noon to 9 every day.

    maybe it is an age thing [thang]; I dunno.

    usta love Sadies in the bowling alley, course I was a kollege studint then, and I couldn't afford to order much.

    Now it seems that the salsa has too much heat, the kind of heat that does NOT enhance the flavor, the prices are to high [by a bunch accordin' to my food quality/$ paradigm].

    The booze is good [margaritas and beer too], although I felt the drinks and cervecas we had last time added way, way, too much to the bill.

    Then again, maybe I just lost count.

    The franchise food is just like the original overpriced and of average quality. The drinks are nice and strong and the chips and salsa are great. The red chile is terrible. Ordering ala carte is usually a better deal.

    Mediocre-at-best tourist crap; the chile lacks flavor or temperature (rating only around 5,000-10,000 scovile), and the food overall is frequently covered in cheese to hide the fact that they just flat don't know the proper way to prepare it.

    There are literally dozens of restaurants that are better than this travesty masquerading as New Mexican food, among them being Duran's, Charley's, and Mary & Tito's. Or just drive to Santa Fe and go to The Shed or La Choza. Sadie's, quite frankly, is inedible by comparison.

    That being said, the story of Sadie's is also a somewhat tragic one, at least for people with taste buds. They used to be a fantastic little place just down the street in a bowling alley. They were, in fact, some of the best food in town. The instant they reveled in their success and built the larger tourist-trap location, they became the pre-fab cookie-cutter faux-New Mexican place they now are.

    It's been a couple years since I ate at Sadie's and having just gone last weekend, now I remember why.

    We went to the new (and really weird) one on Eubank in a really generic hotel building and the food was as bland as the environment. We got the stuffed sopaipilla, the chicken enchiladas and the ground beef burrito and all of it was incredibly bland. I agree with the poster who said the chicken tasted like it came out of a can.

    I don't think the folks at Sadie's understand the notion of seasoning because nothing had any.

    and they skimp on the chile - unlike the original location on 4th street.
