Walking into the Golden Crown Panadería, you have the sense of entering someone’s home. Countertops flow over with pan dulce, bolillos (Mexican hard rolls) and Appaloosa bread (dark and light rye swirled). A glass-fronted case proudly displays fruit empanadas and delicious flaky dessert flautas (in lemon and apricot) coated in powered sugar. Golden Crown's green chile bread is made with tomatoes, parmesan cheese, cilantro, onions and spices and decorated with the design of a coyote howling at the moon. And there’s fresh-baked pizza. And coffee drinks, and fresh-picked salads grown hydroponically just inside the front door. (Alibi Staff, August 11, 2010)

My favorite pizza ever. Perfect sauce, perfect peasant dough crust (chewy). I get the pepperoni or Golden Crown Combo once a week. And I love the old adobe building and the exterior artwork. and its patio, and quaint neighborhood, and friendly staff, and free biscochito, and...

I consider its location Downtown, close to Old Town. But that's just me. It's at 12th and Mountain. Much more accessible than Old Town.
