If you’re in the mood for an amenable French brunch, lunch or dinner, say oui to La Provence. Nob Hill's newest restaurant is still a little rough around the edges, but has the potential to be great. The wine bar in the front of the restaurant (chockfull of rare-find French wines) is very cozy, while the back dining room, with its tables packed tightly together, feels cramped at peak hours. Likewise, the waitstaff can come off as inexperienced, but is very nice and accommodating nonetheless. Try the moules frites (mussels steamed in white wine) served with a side of little truffle french fries or the confit de canard aux lentilles (roasted duck with lentils). For dessert, the crème brûlée is a must. BLP also does brunch and half-off wine bottles on Sundays and Mondays. (Alibi Staff, August 11, 2010)

  • Inconsistant!  [ Wed Oct 15 2008 3:02 PM ]

We've tried La Provence at least six or seven times hoping that the food would be consistantly good twice in a row. It never is in our experience. Particularly the sometimes rancid beef in their burgers(yuch!) But this inconsistancy is common for many Albuquerque restaurants it seems. One day the actual chef is there, the next it's a sub-chef with less of an idea of what they're supposed to be doing.

So we're through throwing money away here, hoping we'll get lucky and hit the "good day".

I disagree I've been there around 10 times and I have found them to be one of the most consistent restaurants in abq. They did have this new dude working the other night but he did ok he was just slower. I love the food and the wait staff is very professional and friendly. I really hope I never encounter what you have.

  • Tres delicious!  [ Wed May 6 2009 3:36 PM ]

I dined here this past weekend, and everything we had was amazing, especially my nicoise salad.

  • Once Was Enough  [ Sat Jun 12 2010 9:40 AM ]

The French onion soup was repulsively sweet. The flavorless cheese on top was wonderfully stringy in the bowl, but became the consistency of rubber as soon as I popped it in my mouth. The bouef boeurguignon tasted better than the soup but the meat was tough. The decidedly low brow, industrial carpeting and chairs underscore the disparity between meal quality and cost. Perhaps I missed the culinary gems on the menu, but I won't be going back to try to find them.
