Closed Monday (subject to change) Full review: Ain’t no mountain high enough (5/11/2006) Katrinah’s East Mountain GrillThe mountain-dwelling folks here are friendly, greeting you with a tall glass of sweet tea to wash down the trail dust. The chicken-fried dinner (your choice of chicken or steak) is an ode to mountain appetites everywhere, because the portions of hot, mashed red potatoes, plump sweet corn, juicy, hand-battered beef steak and thick milk gravy are practically hanging off the plate. With such table-heavy delights as nachos New Mexico ($4.50, or add $1 for chicken or beef), made with natural-cut potato chips, or the East Mountain thunder burger (hamburger infused with green chile and cheese, battered, deep-fried and served on a sourdough bun, $6.99) there’s no shame in bustin’ your best Wranglers. A full Starbucks-like espresso bar fancies things up, too, as does brunch (served from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sundays). But it’s closed on Mondays, ya hear?
