We Support Our Girls Gone Wild

Last night I had the pleasure of seeing a thoroughly disturbing commercial, which was more or less, government propaganda. The imagery is a series of jerky shots of ’We Support Our Troops' signs and stickers, and over a music bed, some venerable sounding man says "we all do it, we all believe in it ... ." At the end you find out that it's for the USO. You can watch the commercial at uso.org. The next commercial was for the Girls Gone Wild Games which shows images of "sexy co-eds" humping, spanking and sucking on one another's tits. I love America.

That's why I like hooking up with hot girls 24/7, and I meet them by texting on my cell phone!

  • Then I met Rob. It's like he was waiting for me.  [ Tue Nov 8 2005 11:44 PM ]

Sleep is pointless when back-to-back episodes of Stargate are showing on every single channel. Did you see that one where Glorb got captured by the aliens and all the army men had to rescue him?

  • Don't throw the troops out with the bathwater  [ Thu Nov 10 2005 4:03 PM ]

While you may not agree with the reasons we're in the Middle East, or the fact that we're over there period, please don't make the same mistake people made back in the 60's by letting your anger and resentment become focused on the people SERVING in the military. The USO is about supporting the people who are risking their lives every day to keep you secure. It shouldn't represent a conflict-of-interest for someone taking an anti-war stance to support the PEOPLE who are serving, regardless of what you think about the actions of their Chief Executive.

  • Really? Out with the bathwater?  [ Wed Jun 13 2007 11:14 AM ]

Why is it ANY comment with the words "army", "war" or "troops" automatically degrades into a support the troops rant? For fucks sake, nobody is even insinuating we shouldn't. I don't think this post even contains any anti-war sentiments. Perhaps it's more of a comment on the outlandish hypocrisy and blatant mixed messages the media forces on people.

"Why should they get a pass to kill innocent civilians like brainless robots?"

Ignoring the bigotry inherent in pejoratives like "brainless", I'm relieved to see you realize that innocent civilians include robots. Nobody should get a pass to kill innocent robots, whether these civilians are "brainless" or not.
