The Bush administration continues to do everything in its power to intimidate the national mainstream news media—the so-called liberal press—into not reporting about the administration’s more dubious actions in fighting the war on terror. Largely, these tactics have been successful, but this isn’t always the case. This week, the New York Times is once again the target, with some Republican lackeys in Congress going so far as to accuse the paper of treason. I know how frustrating it must be for you, George, Dick, Donald et al, to live in a free country where citizens have a right to know about secret government programs that are quite possibly illegal, but TOO BAD. Your arguments that you should be able to do whatever the hell you want in the name of protecting national security are tired. Hopefully, you’ll learn that the hard way in November.
