I am Philip José Farmer

So says this little online quiz that claims to determine what famous science fiction writer you are. It’s only eleven questions of multiple choice, so it’s not a real time waster. I’m happy I get to be Farmer; I’ve read and enjoyed a great deal of his material… Zelazny, though. That would have been the corker.

  • I got Arthur C. Clarke [ Wed Jan 31 2007 12:33 AM ]

Remember that one novella where the aliens finally reveal their form and they look just like red, fork-tailed, horned devils?

  • ah, yes [ Wed Jan 31 2007 8:49 AM ]

    Childhood's End. Good one.

  • I got Ursula K. LeGuin [ Wed Jan 31 2007 10:39 AM ]

"Perhaps the most admired writing talent in the science fiction field."

Too bad I've never heard of her.

  • I am Kurt Vonnegut [ Wed Jan 31 2007 10:54 AM ]

Vonnegut reportedly smokes Pall Mall cigarettes, unfiltered, which he claims is a "classy way to commit suicide."

  • I am Philip José Farmer, too [ Thu Feb 1 2007 9:38 AM ]

Weird. Guess I should read some of his work then.

The first few books of his Riverworld series are pretty entertaining. He also did a dirty, x-rated Tarzan/Doc Savage pastiche that I'm fond of. He also wrote "Venus on the Halfshell" as Kilgore Trout, for all you Vonnegut fans.

  • I am Olaf Stapledon [ Thu Feb 1 2007 10:20 AM ]

Even though I have no idea who he is, the quiz was still quite awesome.
