Too little too late my friend.

His lawyers advised him not to speak out. And he does really cool dances.

Anyway, really? No comments about downtown bars staying open boozeless until 3:30 a.m.? I think it's weird, especially since they're not doing it in Nob Hill, and therefore obviously aren't concerned about "giving people time to sober up," and more aimed at ... what? Seeing if downtown bars will screw up somehow? Or finding a way to make sure they do? There should definitely be places to eat post-bar, but this being a city-sanctioned experiment, it seems fishy.

As a side note, Bubble Lounge, which stays open late and doesn't serve booze, seems to attract some of the creepiest downtown goers.

You Alibi folks know anything about this bar/grill replacing Neds? New stuff is exciting.

Ned's is being taken over by Byron Powdrell (of the Powdrell's barbecue family) and some other guy. I haven't met them but I hear they're nice.

As far as the 3:30 closing time goes, none of the club owners I've talked to seem very thrilled by it, and some definitely won't play along with it. I think it's really weird that it's just for downtown clubs instead of city-wide. It reminds me of a giant horse with soldiers hiding inside.

  • I think it's a good idea  [ Wed Jul 22 2009 10:07 AM ]

To let the bars say open a little later. It sucks being kicked out of the bar on a cold winter night when you are just waiting for a taxi. One of maybe 8 taxis running for the entire city that may take more than 30 minutes to get there.

  • Wow!  [ Wed Jul 22 2009 4:55 PM ]

I hoped the Powdrell in the story was related...that's so awesome.

It is weird that it's just downtown...but maybe they're just staggering it so they don't get overrun with requests? Probably not.
