Japan has a long history of arms control. The disarming of conquered Okinawan peasants is instrumental in the rise of what we now call "karate".

Britain too. While most men were required to own and practice w their longbow, they were not allowed to have "sharps", metal tips on their arrows. Didn't need 'em since they were not allowed to hunt the king's deer and blunt arrows were good enough to kill the small game they were allowed to take.

I think we will see some more reasonable gun control next year. The culture is finally changing. The Supreme Court may change it's mind and/or the court will change.

I've come around; the rest will sooner or later. Only 89,999,999 gun owners to go.

  • The NRA, as is, should RIP  [ Fri Dec 21 2012 9:56 AM ]

I'm an NRA Life Member, and I am not happy. One thing they got right at their press conference is we do need to do something right now to protect our school kids from all the nuts w guns.

More gun control later, more security now. Licensing, registration, screening, checking, insuring, and yes, some banning, is in order later.

More security is needed now. The Israelis know how to keep their planes and their schools safer than ours, follow their lead. Sadly, we need it even more than they do.
