Great Review on Cosmos, Not Beholden to its Advertising Quest ...  [ Sun Nov 1 2009 8:55 AM ]

It's refreshing to see a restaurant review in the Alibi that is not beholden to its advertising quest. This is the first time I have seen (I'm a faithful reader) such a balanced review without fear of losing an advertiser. My wife and I have eaten at Cosmo Tapas several times and found the food, service and ambiance an absolute delight with some infrequent missteps, as the reviewer stated. The reviewer, I believe, missed a critical component of what makes Cosmo as good as it is ... The wine list is superb with probably the lowest mark up on wine in a tri-state area. Not only are the selections honorable and delightful, but ask Mr. Chris Fisher for a wine recommendation and the results are most laudable. (caveat: I have no material or financial interest in this restaurant ... other than that of a patron.) After reading the review, I decided I must try the paella; having had paella at the Rei de la Paella in Valencia, Spain (home of paella)... and paella from Seville to Barcelona to Madrid ... The paella at Cosmo ranks with the best of them. As fresh, perfectly cooked, zesty, aromatic and delightful as one could ever hope for in Spain ... or in Albuquerque. If you have been to Spain or South America and long for the pleasures of those memorable cuisines, Cosmo Tapas is IT. And if you haven't been to those places and long for something different I can't recommend Cosmo enough. If you simply ordered the cheese platter and a glass of sherry ... heaven will quickly follow.
