Local theatre show would be a winner... [ Tue May 19 2009 1:12 PM ]
The first item on Gene's list would be a great addition to the scene. I'd really like to see interviews with local actors and writers. A video archive of plays would be a valuable community resource.
KUNM records locally produced plays, but their program is only an hour long. Full length plays have to be aired in two parts, and it's only audio. Presenting a three-act play in two parts is awkward.
I cannot avoid mentioning the March 1 episode of KUNM's Radio Theatre. The show was stopped after several expletives were aired. The next week, an attempt was made to edit and speed up the audio to fit the available time, along with the piece that was originally scheduled. The results were not good.
The local theatre community has nothing to lose by shifting their focus to a collaboration with the many talented, energetic film and video people that Gene cites in his article.
