I've always been a proponent of the "least amount of suffering possible" when it comes to animals. Sick and hungry feral cats on the streets pains me. I would rather these cats be put to peace. The argument "If it were simply killed, another unfixed cat would take its place" makes no sense to me. If it were killed there would be at least one less unfixed cat on the streets (as well as no feral offspring from that cat). It's that time of year again. Lots of "illness" going around right now. But is it all virus related? or is it just allergies? Flu brings on fever and body aches and you have zero energy. So it's pretty obvious when you have the flu. But how to tell the difference between a cold and allergies? It's currently allergy time in ABQ believe it or not. Juniper likes to rear up this time of year and Elm is high right now. [link] It's difficult to tell the difference between a cold and allergies as they share many of the same symptoms (sneezing, coughing, congestion, runny nose, tired). But your eyes will tell you. If your eyes are itchy and watery, it's allergies, not a cold. Also, if your symptoms have lasted for more than a week it's allergies. For allergies I find eye drops and a neti pot sinus wash extremely helpful. Use them a couple of times a day (especially after being outside). That article is wacked. First they quote a rise in cancer from eating processed meats, bacon and sausage. And then they say the study was regarding red meat consumption, which is neither pork nor necessarily processed. I get that the article is about pancreatic cancer contributors, but it's presentation is shit poor. Two thumbs down, Guardian.
for me is Happy Endings. It's no Modern Family or Parks and Rec, but it does make me laugh out loud. I hope it makes it another season.
