good food, *dreadful* service  [ Sun Sep 14 2008 4:28 PM ]

these ppl should be damn glad their kitchen has it goin' on, because the service is abysmal. we were seated in the empty section in front of the bar, to start with. why not in the restaurant area? it wasn't full! anyway, this has all the atmosphere of a snack at a Love's Truck Stop, without the ambiance. 20 minutes later, our waiter stopped by to see if we wanted a drink! christ on a bicycle, YES. and where is the wine list? oh yeah. another 20 minutes go by before we can even get an order in, since the guy just disappeared. we finally get some food, which was well-prepared, nicely plated. at the end of the evening, we decided on dessert. fine, once we *finally* get it, it comes with mini-spoons that look like they are punched out of tin foil. i can't break through the crust of my lemon tart! FFS! i get one cup of cold coffee, and when i finally get asked if i'd like some more, i say no thanks, thinking this will precipitate the bringing of the check. HAH! no, another 30 minutes passes by. by this point i am *itching* to get the hell outta there. what a nightmare!

WHY OH WHY can't these people realize that if excellent service can make up for an average meal, that crap service totally kills off an excellent meal? honestly, i get kick-ass service in little "joints" around town. these bozos should do a market study, and watch the staff work their asses off at places like Garcias, Annie's Soup Kitchen, hell, even Flying Star or Starbucks. Ugh, ultimately, I was very disappointed here because of the service. Prepare to see this space empty again in the future.
