but it would seem your last post compared your rantings about cat terrorists to Einstein's theory of mass/energy equivalence? Beyond the self-aggrandizement that comparison entails, I find it ironic that you would trot out a famous equation consisting of 5 characters to defend yourself against accusations of over-long ranting. You realize the mass/energy equivalence equation - elegant, simple, profound for those who understand the underlying concepts - is more or less the epitome of the "brevity = wit" maxim, don't you?
At any rate, you're several thousand characters up on good old Einstein in your first post alone, and while it is abundantly clear that you think cats are bad and you want to hunt them, I'm still looking for the profundity... Don't let my objection to the length of your postings fool me...I object to the (oversimplified, polarized, misinterpreted, ranted-up) content as well.

"troll" = [ Fri Jun 15 2012 3:33 PM ]
Posting 2000+ words repeatedly on a comments thread. As someone mentioned above, brevity is frequently the soul of wit, and if that was true in the sixteenth century it's safe to say it goes double for blog comments.
While (as I already said) I am largely in agreement w/Woodsman regarding the general impacts of (feral and otherwise) cats on birds and other wildlife, the deluge of links and feverish commentary suggests a "passion" that for me - and I suspect others - boils over into obsession. Particularly when we're talking about someone who has apparently never felt moved to comment on anything else on the Alibi, ever. The all-caps ranting, the invocation of terrorism and biological warfare: it's all a bit much, especially given the venue. There might be politer words for someone inclined to post torrents of unhinged invective at the slightest cue, but I find "wingnut" generally suits my purposes just fine...
Yup... [ Fri Jun 15 2012 10:56 AM ]
...I'm getting a strong odor of one-issue wingnut here. For what it's worth, WM, I agree with your broader point, but the level of...uh...focus you display definitely has an air of wacko about it...
I like novels... [ Thu Jun 14 2012 3:41 PM ]
...and have never used Twitter. But I believe I have a pretty accurate sense of whether or not typing 2000+ words into the Weekly Alibi's comments feed is an effective way to get the word out about those cats and what they're doing to the soil...
Just a guess, but do you even live in Albuquerque or read the Alibi? Or did this article just happen to turn up in your daily "CAT PLAGUE CONSPIRACY MIND CONTROL" Google search?

There is a direct correlation.... [ Thu Jun 14 2012 3:10 PM ]
between an individual's personal crazy level and the amount of text they find it appropriate to dump into an online forum's comments box. Even if it wasn't about cats as biological weapons, I would say Woodsman's contributions definitely put him solid tinfoil-hat territory...
that would be UN-employment rate... [ Fri May 4 2012 1:57 PM ]
it went down, which is usually good, but in this case they say its because people aren't looking anymore. An 8% EMPLOYMENT rate would be quite a bummer...
Tacos - you could compare the offerings at taco trucks vs. Zacatecas, or soft Mexicano tacos vs. NM hard-shells...
SE Asian soups: who's got the best Pho/Spicy Hue-style beef soup/Tom kha/Tom yum? Pho certainly has the highest visibility here in ABQ but there are plenty of interesting Vietnamese, Thai, and Lao soups out there waiting to sampled...with Street Food Asia and the soon-to-open Filipino joint in Nob Hill you could throw Malaysian and Filipino offerings into the mix as well.
Lao food: no restaurant has officially branded itself as Lao yet, but Laotian folks own several of ABQ's Thai places and a few places have a handful of Lao dishes hiding on their menus. Sakura Thai/Sushi has a whole Lao section, Krung Thai offers a few Lao dishes including Lao sausage and Lao-style papaya salad (with pork rinds!), quite a few places offer Laab...etc., etc.
Asian desserts: explore the entirely different set of textures and flavors many Asian desserts use by looking at dessert offerings at the Asian places around town: Japanese/Korean/Chinese/Vietnamese/Thai/Lao/etc.
