The invasion of the Halloween-themed horror games continues on Webgame Wednesday. They Took Our Candy is fairly straightforward. Space aliens have invaded the streets of suburbia and snatched up all the good candy. You must assemble your best team of costumed kiddies (different costumes bestow different special powers), and sidescroll your way though wave after wave of monsters from space. Use the candy you gather to upgrade your powers and unlock new costumes (a kitty cat?). Yay, candy!

Webgame Wednesday: Infectonator 2

Halloween month is upon us, so we figured we'd spend October's Webgame Wednesday highlighting freaky, awesome horror-based video games. We start off on a high note with Infectonator 2. There's no greater joy than traveling the world, infecting people with a zombie virus and then watching flesh-eating monsters devour an entire city. Be sure and pick the pockets of all those cute, little dead people along the way so you can upgrade your army of the undead, making them longer-lived, more resistant to damage and, of course, more infectious. There are simply no words to describe how maniacally fun this game is. ... Oh, wait, yes there are: "Summon Zombie Kim Jong-Il."

Webgame Wednesday: Adventure Time’s Ninja Castle

What if they held a 48-hour video game programming contest dedicated entirely to Cartoon Network's awesome series "Adventure Time"? Good news! They did! The Adventure Time Game Jam just wrapped up, resulting in dozens of Finn-and-Jake-centric games. As is typical for this kind of thing, most of the games are short and rather unpolished. But there are a few gems mixed in there. A lot of the games require downloads, but there are a handful of Flash-based titles. Among the standouts is Ninja Castle. In this clever puzzle game, Finn and Jake must navigate the castle of the Ninja King and beat him up. You move the heroes by clicking on adjacent rooms. The objective is to maneuver them so they both reach the Ninja King at the same time. The mechanics take a moment or two to get used to, but once you get the hang of it, it's a colorful little mindbender.

Webgame Wednesday: Hexagon

Hexagon is a maddening, impossible-to-survive puzzle actioner. Like, the old arcade hit Tempest, but in reverse, you must pilot your avatar though a tunnel-like maze. There are no enemies to fight, just a tiny, triangular speck to steer in a circular pattern. The walls close in on you at a frightening pace. In seconds, you'll be dead. The key is to get into the game's Zen. Relax your eyes and sense the pattern that the walls are forming. Now, let your fingers follow that pattern: left, right, leeeeeft! Boom.
