That's what the Russians do, and it works. I guess a nuke is not part of "everything we've got?" I thought we had a few last time I checked, but maybe those are earmarked for killing people rather than melting rock to plug an oil spill.

Nuclear power is our only reasonable hope of preserving western culture at present. I hope this country realizes that before it's too late. Europe is already 50 years ahead of the US in nuclear technology. France's nuclear program supplies much of Britain's electricity across the English Channel. Unfortunately, most people rely on knee-jerk propaganda from popular culture, lovingly nurtured by the petroleum industry as they squeeze out every last dime from fossil fuels. They love wind and solar because they know they're dead ends. They hate nuclear because there might actually be some unsold oil left if we got moving right now.
