Where There's Rain, It's Wet: Innovative Stormwater Infrastructure 2013

Since moving to Albuquerque, it feels like I never left the Gulf of Mexico (as the weather can be somewhat unpredictable). But hey, a drought requires rainfall, which is why the National Hispanic Cultural Center (1701 Fourth Street SW) is having a forum for Innovative Stormwater Infrastructure on tomorrow at 1pm. When the hard rains come down, it can take us a little by surprise as we're so used to driving past dry arroyos. But every so often, those torrential downpours seem daunting. And the stormwater runoff can cause flooding, which doesn't make for an easy day, especially when you have to drive through roads with rainwater reaching up to 3 ft. (in some cases). But that's neither here nor there. The forum will serve as an in-depth discussion “for designers, policy makers, leaders, advocates and citizens,” and will include such topics as the Innovative Stormwater Solutions Act, National Trends in Stormwater Management, Stormwater Permits, the Future of Stormwater Design, the Santa Fe River Project and more. This event is free and open to the public and will take place in the Bank of America Theatre. So if you're in the mood to get down on some infrastructure, policy or innovative ideas, this may be what you're looking for.
