R2D-Who?: RoboRAVE International 2014
For those who wish to understand technology and its vast connection to the ingenuity of the working man and woman, there's no better place to witness such scientific goodness than the RoboRAVE International event at the Albuquerque Convention Center (401 Second Street NW). This roborific extravaganza features workshops, competitions and fun for kids, coaches, parents and the like. Though the mechanical meanderings happen from May 1-3, the public is only allowed in tomorrow.
But that's okay, folks. Saturday will provide some exciting cyborg craziness like a parade to the Robot Challenge Area, competitions between robot-makers, jousting and fire fighting tournaments, “robotovate” voting, a triathlon and a closing awards ceremony at Kiva Auditorium. So motor to this illustrious widget factory and view some automatons made by kids and coaches from all over, including the US, Mexico, China, Colombia, Czech Republic, Spain, France and elsewhere. The robotic spectacular happens from 8am to 4:30pm, and tickets for adults will run you $10. But don't worry, that adult ticket also gets two people (under 18) in for free. Additional kiddos will have to pay $2 upon entry. Albuquerque Convention Center • Sat May 3 • 8am-4:30pm • $10 (price also admits 2 kids FREE) • ALL-AGES! • View on Alibi calendar
