Old World Songs at Sunset

Juan Wijngaard

Whether you dress like a hobbit and practice Elvish love songs on your harp or enjoy the lively beauty of Celtic Woman performances, there's just something about ye olde musick that just calls to us...kinda like the One Ring but not so creepy. Perhaps it's because those ancient tunes are a part of our ancestral memory or maybe we just yearn for a time of simpler things.

Ether way, join Scott and Johanna Hongell-Darsee for a magical evening of medieval and traditional ballads, songs and stories from Scandinavia, Europe, India and the US on Saturday, Aug. 15, at Elena Gallegos Double Shelter Amphitheater in the Picnic Area (7100 Tramway NE). Cross your fingers that you'll get to hear “Systrarna” which was nominated for Best Vocal Performance at the New Mexico Music Awards. As part of the lineup for the City of Albuquerque's 2015 Open Space Summer Series, the performance will be family-friendly and only $2 per vehicle. The enchantment begins promptly at 7pm.
