The Hot Spring

 

I am staying at a mountain retreat commune run by a kindly red-bearded man with a staff and floppy hat. I discover a wonderful hot spring in a clearing near some trees. The spring is actually right in the middle of the main trail that leads up the mountain. It is marked by a large rock engraved with the word "mail". My sister wants to take a shower and asks me if I will block the path by moving the rock. I do as she asks just as the bearded man arrives. He hikes a wide arc around our family. I wonder if he is annoyed with us for monopolizing his trail, or is just giving us some space.
