Tips for avoiding long lines at certain polls

Lines at Jefferson Middle School have shot out the door and down the sidewalk. The Student Union Building voting site on UNM campus has lines an hour or so long. Bernalillo County Clerk Maggie Toulouse Oliver tweets that waits are longer than 30 minutes at Rio Bravo, Siesta Hills, Van Buren, Del Norte, McKinely, Cibola and Hayes. But the wait is less than 15 minutes at Downtown sites, including Washington Middle School and the Clerk’s Annex. Scope a map of polling locations and wait times. You can vote at any one of 69 convenience centers.

Just talked to someone who said it's like five minutes. That's not far from UNM.

I'm at Jefferson Middle School right now. Lesson learned. XD

...and there was a pretty massive line. So, I used Marisa's Bandelier tip. Only waited in line 15 minutes and it was a very pleasant wait, chatting with other voters. :)

Was there a problem with the precinct system? Calling them "convenience centers" does not make having to drive a extra mile and a half (instead of walking 2 blocks) and wait in line for an hour "convenient."

And don't give me any crap about it being a small price to pay for the privilege. In the previous 15 years of voting in Albuquerque I never had to wait in a line longer than 3 people. It made me want to vote against Maggie Toulouse, but no one was running against her.
