Juneteenth (June 19) is the historic celebration of the end of slavery in the US. Wyrdteenth on the other hand, is the celebration of Black futures and the cultural importance of the aesthetic of Afrofuturism, a science-fiction-infused genre born of the '90s in literature, music and art. Come out for a Wyrdteenth celebration with performance, poetry and zines from Ebony Isis Booth, Marya Errin Jones, Brielle Leilani (Philadelphia) and Tanesia Hale-Jones. It all goes down on Sunday, June 5, at 7pm at the Tannex. Cover is $5. Tannex • Sun Jun 5 • 7-10pm • $5 • View on Alibi calendar
