The new Forever 21 is open at Coronado Center

Praise the gods of affordable apparel, the 20,000 square foot Forever 21 at Coronado Center is open. Out of key makeup items, yesterday I grudgingly stopped by Coronado to shop at Sephora and was pleasantly surprised to find the new Forever 21 open for business. The store shines like a tranny out on the town. The decor, naturally, is that mega-trendy faux Lucite and chandelier-bedecked, quasi French boudoir style, which compliments the voluminous stock of cheap, whimsy-laden merchandise. This store, unlike its Cottonwood Mall counterpart, has a men’s section, a lingerie section, shitloads of accessories and who knows what else. I’d have to spend hours in there to give a full assessment. Sadly, the store was closing when I arrived and it was all I could do just to contain my excitement long enough to locate and purchase some big-ass sunglasses and ruffley pajama shorts.

I have to encourage you to do some research on Forever 21. Did you know that they have sweatshops in both the United States and overseas? Here's a great synopsis of why I won't be shopping in there, ever, as tempting as it may be:

Of course they have sweat shops. Don't assume that any fast fashion is ethical. Pretty much everything made within the corporate capatalist system was born from some deal with the devil. Ever wonder why they're charging only $1 for that hamburger? So what to do? You can either be a nihilist and give in, shop only thrift stores, make your own or get some money and buy some expensive, ethical clothing. The later option isn't available to most people.

Jobs.... Jobs.... you're causing me to get giddy. I'm looking for a job. Are they actually hiring in the US Ms. Amber??? Post where, please! I don't mind getting sweaty, because I do it anyway, and it's not a cool place like the 21.

    Regards

    Mike

PS: I hope large hands and fingers don't disqualify me from the jobs in the US!?
