Come on. Then who after that? The game's done. Just let it be done.

Said Sen. Jeff Bingaman, D-N.M., chairman of the Energy and Natural Resources Committee, "If this is like other catastrophic failures of technological systems in modern history, whether it was the sinking of the Titanic, Three Mile Island, or the loss of the Challenger, we will likely discover that there was a cascade of failures and technical and human and regulatory errors."

He is correct of course, however the "powers that be" do not need to allow off-shore drilling. Florida won't allow it. California won't allow it, says the Guvernator, who disallowed it. What will Bingaman do to limit other countries from drilling in our Gulf? Not a damn thing. My Green Party tears are flowing as I watch the tube.

I don't care what political party you belong to. I have close friends who are every stripe. Demand accountability from all our leaders and the people who we entreat to make decisions for us. This may be an embarrassment for the Chairman of Energy and Natural Resources and he will shrug his shoulders, wander off to friendly places or his compound, and smugly submit press releases but he deserves a well-directed kick to the groin. Imagine if W had been pres when this occurred. I'm not a hypocrite and I would have kicked Cheney there too, if the opportunity presented.

    Regards

    Mike
