That's awesome. I think everyone ought to have get some hobby like that before they become an evil overlord, or even before .. well .. maybe before they do nothing.

We were watching Predator last week, and noted all the characters all had some gimmick. Are you the guy who is always shaving with a disposable razor? The chewing-tobacco-and-a-BFG guy? The one who tells jokes about his wife's anatomy? (Which is pretty weak, so he also has a second gimmick: he's the guy who .. wears glasses? Really, that's all you have? No wonder I don't remember your character's name.) Maybe your ethnicity itself can be part of it, but if so, you need to take it to the extreme ("I'm a native American and so at home in a natural setting, that I drink from vines and face the monster armed only with an extremely low-tech weapon.")

These things aren't just for minor characters in action movies. Everyone, fictional or real, minor player or world history changer, should have one. Doodle Pinocchio or try to arm-wrestle Arnold Schwartzenegger -- it doesn't matter. Just be memorable for more than your [lack of] accomplishments. Hitler will always be remembered for death and destruction, but what if, just what if, he had failed to take power? He had his Disneyphilia as a backup.
