Jerome Block, Jr. will resign

That’s what Attorney General Gary King says. Block’s fellow public regulation commissioners voted him out. But he wouldn’t go. He admitted he had a problem with pharmaceuticals instead. But today, minutes ago, the AG sent out a news release saying Block knows when to fold ’em.

He’ll plead guilty to “two embezzlement charges; fraudulent use of a credit card; theft of identity; violation of the state Election Code, Campaign Reporting Act, and Voter Action Act; and conspiracy to commit violation of the Election Code.”

He’ll pay it all back, according to the news release. And he’ll never seek another political seat.

King points out this means the Legislature doesn’t have to worry about trying to impeach Block.

  • Calling Rick Lass... Hello, Rick?...  [ Wed Sep 28 2011 11:13 PM ]

I would hope consideration is in place to award 2008 Green Party candidate Rick Lass the seat on the PRC, if he still wants it. He was the obvious choice in the first place but the entrenched Democrat power bloc wanted Jr. to carry on for his parents' and grandparents' ownership of that powerful position.

Lass promised to oppose big interests, which is something the Dems simply can't do. They are equally immersed in special interests as the Reps are, or vastly more so, depending on how you quantify it. Dems have had power since statehood and they don't release it willingly. Look at the way elected officials fight tooth and nail in court when they are caught red-handed, including Mr. Block, Jr..

His campaign was a sad, sad depiction of how New Mexicans run their elections when he was accused of numerous violations beforehand, then robotic Dem voters marched in and he won by a landslide. I've often wondered how the power of the Dem party moves the individuals when they are standing alone in a voting booth and how they continually vote these obvious charlatans to important offices. It's not the booze! You can't buy it on election day! Stockholm Syndrome perhaps... alas

    Regards

    Mike
