U.S. celebrates news of bin Laden's death

President Obama announced tonight that al Qaeda's former leader was killed after a firefight with Navy Seals. He confirmed Internet rumors that Osama bin Laden's body was in U.S. possession. Many Americans are rejoicing, especially at Ground Zero.

The president said killing bin Laden was among his first directives:

" ... Shortly after taking office, I directed Leon Panetta, the director of the CIA, to make the killing or capture of bin Laden the top priority of our war against al Qaeda, even as we continued our broader efforts to disrupt, dismantle and defeat his network."

And he reminded viewers that the United States is not at war with Islam:

"I've made clear, just as President Bush did shortly after 9/11, that our war is not against Islam. Bin Laden was not a Muslim leader; he was a mass murderer of Muslims. Indeed, al Qaeda has slaughtered scores of Muslims in many countries, including our own."

If you missed it, the full text of the president's speech is online.

Meet the man who may be in charge: Bin Laden's second in command, Ayman al-Zawahri, is a surgeon who was born in Egypt.

Bill Moyers wrote up a quick rundown of al Qaeda's history. A few outlets are carrying bin Laden's obit.

President Bush, other Republican politicians and notables from around the world react.

I thought the twin towers were an inside job?

Now they are blaming this guy.

He used to work for the CIA to oust the Russians...when the russians were the bad guys.

He killed all the elite in Algeria (shhh) so the major US gas companies could go in. He was on OUR side.

I wonder how long it will take before "fake news" stops.

Don't bother critisizing this unless you have "investigated" YOUR REALITY SHOW.

    Cheers

9/11 was absolutely an inside job. CIA, Mossad and Pakistani ISI all collaborated to pull it off. Anyone who has had access to REAL information about the staged attacks via the net, know the truth. The YouTube movie Loose Change: 2nd Edition ( [link] ) got the ball rolling and many have followed in awakening the masses.

Anyone see "Charlie Sheen's Message to Obama" on YouTube? ( [link] ) That's a huge story that the mainstream media ignored. NOTE: That's a sober Charlie from 2009.

  • Seriously? You're going to cite Charlie Sheen?  [ Mon May 2 2011 11:51 AM ]

Anyone can edit video clips to spread their delusional theories. (And they don't have to be on drugs to be delusional)

The mainstream media may be wack in many ways, but referencing conspiracy theories won't give us the evidence we want.

  • Hey STACKS  [ Mon May 2 2011 11:52 AM ]

Got any new conspiracy videos about the lack of a long-form death certificate yet? The word "Deathers" has a ring to it; someone needs to start using it.

  • Charlie Sheen???  [ Mon May 2 2011 11:53 AM ]

    Really Stacks?

  • History shows...  [ Mon May 2 2011 2:09 PM ]

Stacks, I agree. Don't let the nay-Sayers dismiss your information simply because you speak of "conspiracy.". Our American history is filled with people who conspire to commit crime, and the attacks of September the 11th were likely no different. The military industrial complex that Eisenhower spoke of will go to great lengths to expand Anglo hegemony. People are simply too afraid to acknowledge sad truths when it stares at them hard. Keep an open mind, think outside of the one-dimensional, and you will learn much. Keep doing research while the free and open Internet is still available.

"At first they will mock you..."

Stacks paranoid conspiracy deal and NavajoPride78's "Anglo hegemony"/"military industrial complex " rap, I almost wish for another page of BillyKids' attempts at humor.

    Oh yeah, the Inernet.

No way could anything there be untrue.

..The URL contained a malformed video ID.

    Sorry about that.

So does that mena it's your turn to suck it?

  • Cynical Idiots?  [ Tue May 3 2011 12:34 PM ]

Pot calls kettle black, Stacks. You lost us at Charlie Sheen.

  • Stacks is on the internet  [ Wed May 4 2011 11:37 PM ]

That's all I need to know about the veracity of the internet.

Pittsburgh Steeler RB Rashard Mendenhall tweeted similar conspiracy nonsense and the owner of his team through him under the bus for it. The Meadowlands in NY will certainly be an interesting experience this year when he plays there.
