  • Hero? wut?  [ Mon Aug 22 2011 7:40 PM ]

Mr. Chacon stated publicly that he was not a hero and he is right. My point is that every man and father would have done the same; many women, also. My neighbor certainly would have and she may have harmed his reproductive capabilities intentionally, after catching up with the miscreant. Consider this, if Mr. Chacon did not do anything upon witnessing the abduction and drive-off, he would have broken Good Samaritan laws and hopefully been arrested and deported.

It seems that the media loves Mr. Chacon because he is Mexican. Well that's a lovely stereotype. Gustavo Arrellano (Ask a Mexican!) and I may actually have common ground on an issue. It's a subtle form of racism to show low expectations for some group of people and then overly celebrate when an individual meets basic human expectations.

A stereotype for illegal immigrants has been that they come here to drink from the public trough of free services, paid for by the sweat of American workers. That is a fair assessment frequently. Mr. Chacon has two American born children. Does anyone actually think he paid the hospital for the pre-care, post-care and delivery of those children? If I'm wrong, I'll donate some bucks to his favorite charity.

Thanks be to God that a man witnessed the abduction and had truck keys in hand to do the right thing. I shudder to think otherwise for the little victim.

    Regards

    Mike

National media was all over this. Then, days later, he told them he was illegal.

  • Sorry Esme, but you're wrong  [ Tue Aug 23 2011 8:25 PM ]

The very first report I heard, in the Albq. Journal which broke the story, stated that he spoke only Spanish. That tells you all you need to know.
