Helping Nepal: Five organizations accepting donations and offering relief in Nepal

On April 25 the world helplessly stood back and watched as a massive earthquake devastated Nepal. A reported 1 million children are in need of care and districts like Dhading and Nuwakot have been reported as having received some of the most extreme damage. Victims of the quake are vulnerable to countless health risks, families are still searching for missing loved ones and a long road to recovery is ahead for so many.

With fear of aftershocks expected to continue throughout the week, many of us are wondering how we as New Mexicans can help. The staff at The Weekly Alibi has contributed a list of organizations that are currently offering relief to Nepal and accepting donations:

Heifer International Heifer helps to create agriculture and commerce to areas with a long history of poverty. By offering farming opportunity they enable families to gain sustainable income and begin building communities.

CARE CARE works in 87 countries around the world to support over 900 poverty-fighting development and emergency projects.

GlobalGiving GlobalGiving is a charity fundraising web site that gives social entrepreneurs and non-profits from anywhere in the world a chance to raise the money that they need to improve their communities.
