DODT repealed, Dream Act fails, synthetic cannabis Grinch

The Daily Word

Don't ask don't tell is repealed in the Senate. Will Obama sign the bill? Probably, but top brass are still worried about "distractions".

DREAM Act fails to pass in Grinch-like Senate.

Party like it's 1989: APD shuts down "illegal rave" this weekend. Those Journal links are a PIA, but it's worth it. High humidity in the building and bikinis were factors, apparently.

Bank of America joins others in suspending Wikileaks accounts.

Meanwhile, in a tit-for-tat scene the Swedish police report on the Assange accusations has leaked.

Only six more shopping days before ... synthetic cannabis is banned in the U.S. AGAIN with the Grinch.

Sonic booms turn crocodiles on.

Bangladeshi stock market has collapsed. Right now you're asking yourself, "Bangladesh has a stock market?" Yup, and so does Mongolia.

Check out this ridiculously tiny lighter.

Fun fact for journalists: on this day in 1918 Lenin made it illegal for the Bolshevik press to criticize in any way the original Soviet secret police, the Cheka--which had been formed exactly one year earlier. Lenin had originally intended the secret police to be a temporary institution. Oh well.

  • The culprit who was on the wrong side of history  [ Sun Dec 19 2010 3:18 PM ]

Now that DADT is repealed and the country suddenly has a wide-eyed awakening of how truly awful this legislation was to begin with, the origins and the culprit who was chiefly responsible for this travesty will go into the dustbin of history. I request that everytime DADT is mentioned anywhere, there should be an accompanying black and white grainy terrible picture of Senator Sam Nunn, preferable with red devil horns and a caption: "architect of DADT, outstanding homophobe of America". Anyone who remembers those accounts of him crawling through submarines and lamenting that "we can't have our fine boys in contact with homosexuals in such close quarters" will know what I'm talking about. No one should ever forget what a truly horrible asshole this guy was, ruining the lives of over 15,000 service men and women, who wanted nothing more than to serve this country honorably. There has to be a special place in hell for this son of a bitch! Oh, and save some room for John McCain as well.

  • $35 to get into a rave!  [ Sun Dec 19 2010 5:47 PM ]

That ain't 1989 pricing! Unless it includes a hit of ecstasy.
