2012 ABQ Cultural Conference Poetry Gala
The Albuquerque Cultural Conference, now in its fifth year, takes a grassroots approach to examining and uplifting our corner of the world. Over the course of this weekend, artists, academics and community organizers will gather to promote the city “as a cultural force in the region in the service of community and social change.” And naturally, wordsmiths and soothsayers have a place in that order. Tonight, a lineup of literary heavyweights will hold forth on this year's conference themes. The Breaking Borders poetry reading features Damien Flores, Mary Oishi, Luis Rodriguez and Levi Romero, among many others. The gala has been a spirited, full-house affair in years past, so be sure to snag your seat early. A suggested $10 donation gets in you in the door. Visit albuquerqueculturalconference.org for more info. Outpost Performance Space • 7-9 pm • $10 • ALL-AGES!
