Infinity and Beyond
The Future of Human Space Flight
The final flight of the shuttle Atlantis in July 2011 left many Americans wondering what would become of the United States' space exploration program. How could we go from being leaders in flight technology to relying on foreign rockets for transportation so suddenly? Local author, historian and pilot Ted Spitzmiller will approach these topics of extraterrestrial uncertainty in a talk titled "The Future of Human Spaceflight." Spitzmiller will reflect on the last 50 years of progress, as well as discuss prospects and challenges moving forward. The free lecture will especially focus on whether it is possible for humans to travel beyond our solar system and will be followed by a Q&A and book signing.
