Hallowe'en: Good or Evil?

Just sitting on this pumpkin.

In elementary school I had a friend who wasn't allowed to celebrate Halloween because her mom was a freaky evangelical who though it was an affront to Jesus. My parents weren't believers, and in our house the holiday was very much celebrated (in fact, my Dad still gives my sister and I Halloween greeting cards every year; they usually include a pun), so understanding why one would deny their child the joys of costumes and candy troubled my tiny brain.

So, Halloween: good or evil? When you were a kid what was your impression of October 31st?

As a kid, evil never crossed my mind. At halloween it was all about having fun.

While they're both scary, the sexy bunny is scarier. Why not just be a sexy unicorn named Cinderella?

That website is funny. A lot of holiday traditions still practiced have alleged pagan origins. I wonder if those Christian kids aren't allowed to go Easter egg hunting or decorate a Christmas tree either. Well, sucks for them.

what an obese man in a red suit in a sleigh has to do with the birth of Jesus. That's probably the most blatantly Pagan symbol in any of the modern Judeo-Christian holidays, but doesn't get nearly the same outcry as Halloween.

Fuck I wish could find some pictures of that Halloween. Hilarious. Nothing says "I'm gonna love you down" like a skinny, bearded white dude in a bikini wearing stove top hat.
