Late Night with David Letterman premieres
David Letterman's late-night talk show debuts. It aired right after Johnny Carson's The Tonight Show. When Carson retired in 1992, Letterman and dumbass Jay Leno engaged in knife fight for the coveted host slot. When the asshat won, Letterman left NBC for CBS. Late Show with David Letterman, outperformed Leno's show almost every week in its first year.
