Stupid Taxes

take a hiatus

As was so eloquently relayed to me through my answering machine last night by “Gov. Bill Richardson,” Aug. 4-6 are the state’s tax-free days on school supplies. Many retail stores throughout the state are participating (though not all), and according to the guv’s website, nontaxable items include (and price limits are per item):

Clothing and footwear $100 or less
School supplies such as pens and paper $15 or less that are typically used in a classroom setting
Computers $1,000 or less, as well as assorted computer equipment $500 or less.

So if you’ve got a kid and would like to save some dough, or if you just need a new computer, hop on down to your favorite school supply store and ask if they’re participating.

Welcome back to class, kids.
