Do You Have A Plan?

Do you know what to do if a tornado strikes? Yeah, I'd pose in front of it too.

Goddamn, the creepiest public service announcements always seem to air late at night. I just saw, among ads for drugs and highly processed foods, a PSA for ready.gov. It went a little like this: Some man saying "I guess I would go to the school and pick my kids up." And a woman saying "We'd meet at home, I'd pick the kids up first." Then a kid saying, "A plan? I don't know about a plan."

So, the government is encouraging us 'mericans to make a plan in the case of a cataclysmic event. Of course--and despite the fact that a cataclysmic event could pose all sorts of variables--this isn't a bad suggestion. Only...it feels odd, a bit suspicious and seems like the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (partnered with the Ad Counsil) is telling us to get ready for the rapture. (Eh-huh-huh--That's the shuddering sound.)
