Wine Me, Dine Me...You Know The Rest

I'm not a huge fan of The Standard Diner, but I live nearby and end up eating there often. I say I'm not a huge fan because I find the upscale diner food oxymoronically over-priced, I don't like the tangy bread roll things and their desserts (save the homemade ice cream and sorbet) tend to suck. However, in just the past month or so, the restaurant has acquired a new chef, and the menu has begun to evolve. They now have more side dishes, including a spinach, beet and onion dish and a succotash--both good. I'm sad that their special ketchup is gone, along with their wasabi mashed potatos (although they still have three "smashed potato" varieties). There are a few new dishes on which I have my eye, and it will be fun to see what else emerges...such as, hopefully, a new and improved bread.
