Southwestern Gifts Galore

...and fireworks

Last week my sister and I drove from the Bay Area to Louisiana, during which we passed through the southern part of fair New Mexico. There we encountered Bowlin's Continental Divide, one among many Bowlin Travel Centers which peddle cheap wares along interstates across the Southwest. Lured in by the promise of 'snake stuff,' we had the pleasure of experiencing this poncho-laden pocket of Americana. Here are some snapshots.

Another Bowlin operation along I-10, east of Tucson. Sadly, we didn't get to see The Thing. It's probably just an taxidermy armadillo wearing a hat and sunglasses anyway.
