The Santa Fe Film Festival celebrates all facets of cinematic arts – here in New Mexico, regionally and globally. The annual event honors everyone working both behind the scenes and on screen to bring the best of film creation, production and showings to the public. The Santa Fe Film Festival focuses on bringing together distinguished industry specialists and discriminating movie lovers through accessible screenings, panels, workshops and parties.

Among the filmmakers who will attend the May 1-4 Santa Fe Film Festival 2014 are Peter McCarthy, who will screen a sneak preview of his new, locally-made film Death & Taxes (produced with A-list Santa Fe actors); Jim Tushinski, who will present I Always Said Yes: The Many Lives of Wakefield Poole, about a famed Broadway choreographer turned erotic film director turned activist; Shaeri Richards, presenting Moving from Emptiness: The Life and Art of a Zen Dude, about Zen calligraphic painter Alok Hsu Kwang-han; Rob Bruce, who will be in attendance for his film McConkey, a portrait of an extreme skier and ski designer; and actor Michael Gross (Family Ties), who will be screening his half-hour film Guest House in the short-film program Growing Pains: Adolescent Short Films for Adults.

Santa Fe Film Festival will also present the winning project of this year’s Shoot Santa Fe Pilot. For this annual program, pilot projects across New Mexico competed for the opportunity to win a $25,000 film package, which includes resources (through the festival’s partnership) for the winner to complete a television series pilot. The 2014 award-winner #nightslikethese will be screened at this year’s festival. Producers Angelique Midthunder and Melanie Kirk teamed up with director Anna Macpherson for this project. “It is an honor to earn the Pilot Project prize and have our pilot screened at the Santa Fe Film Festival,” says Midthunder.
